a half of a foot of snow as the eagles took on the lions and they watched the ravens take on the vikings in zero visibility. they are racing to get the lights back on and thousands are living without power across the country and with the theft of new ice accumulations more outages could be on the way. all that and the official start of winter is still two weeks away. and winter of course still has the grip over much of the country. at least check airports reporting delays of deicing the planes and keep that in mind here and the northeast and the moisture will continue through the day. winds are pulling from the south and west and keeping the air a tad bit milder and instead of all the wintry precipitation we dealt with yesterday there is more in the way of rain today and new york city with the quick burst of snow it will get washed out before another round moves in and we have a number of advisories posted and travel plans along i-95 you will encounter slick spots and give yourself plenty of time and of course make sure that you provide a little bit of extra space between you and the car

a controversial rule that would give green energy company's 30- year permits to kill bald and golden eagles in the country without penalty. hundreds of thousands of birds are not killed every year after flying into large wind turbine blades and other obstacles. the industry claims only 2 percent of the eagles are killed by those wind turbines. a federal study recently found wind farms killed at least 85 gold nine bald eagles from 1997 until 2012. why am i telling you about this? because i care about this a lot. this angers me to think about what we're doing in this country. the white house is now reportedly completing a review of the rule. final details are not known. the rule could still be tweaked, as they put it, but significant changes are rare at this stage in the process. so call your congressman. call your senator, call the president. senator elizabeth warren says she does not want to be president, stepping out of hillary clinton's way for a run possibly in 2016. declaring she will complete her senate term which ends in 2018. my next guest says president obama certainly had nothing t

from batching the eagles beat the loings - look at the snow. and a pile-up of 30 wars in wisconsin. rebecca stevenson has more. >> philadelphia international airport reported 8.6 inches of snow. it looked like more in the game against philadelphia and destroyed. a lot of snow heads to the north. it will continue to get snow off and on around the lakes. slowly and surely the snow is coming overnight and will switch over to rain. it first it has to be freezing rain and sleet. there'll be slushy slippery roadways outside. friday through sunday we've had impressive ice accumulations. we had them all the way down to louisiana. north carolina you had many inches. if you hear cracking in the trees - if you've had an ice storm or had accumulations, you very likely have a tree or limb. we've had power outages being a large problem. here is the good news, today we'll see the icy conditions wrapping up. there's warmer air coming in, so it will shift to rain which will taper off through the day for the coastline. snow will push up into canada. low textures cold for the west and we'll warm clos

was at philly. the lions lost to the eagles about look at the snow. thissen a small amount of snow. they got, depending on the area of pilly, somewhere around five to ten but you can see the pileups at the feet. they have to make the line markers so you can see the line so they can make calls. this next one, baltimore and minnesota, baltimore winning this one but minnesota is at baltimore so this is an outdoor game and it was challenging iful. this next one, the dolphins never played that well in the snow but did yesterday. they were at pittsburgh yesterday, and pittsburgh lost to miami 28-34. the snow was problem, but, well, the pittsburgh fans, you know that the real problem is. kind of like people in washington. rg3 did not have a good day. you wonder when this is going to pass for rg3. in the snow, kansas city had come to town, and, man, beat the rg3 out of them. 45-10. snow was big factor in a lot of games yesterday as we can see on the big wall. >>> younger north korean leader has turn on a member of his family. kim jong-un, you heard about him. but they're making moves in north korea

over the mountain and they came into eagle city in january of 1844. he gained fame for the gun fight in the ok corral in tombstone arizona. it was a famous movement. when he got to the camps, people knew him and voted him to be the sheriff. in 1882 is when gold was found in the mountains. it wasn't much there then. just him then. when we went to spokane he let them knew about gold. they went back to find more, but couldn't find it. the indians were gone. and in coeur d'alene there was nothing there. they had fort coeur d'alene here and that is pretty much all there was. trees and tents. the gold rush started in the fall season of 1883. that is when people started coming over here. they were coming from everywhere. of course in the west there wasn't much here. but people coming in and filing claims on property with snow on the ground. the people before them filled the same claims but the snow covered their claim markers. so the other people came in and reclaimed and they took it to court finally and gave it to the person with the lowest claim markers in the snow. herb came here as a s

with a glass of wine in my hand. go eagles! >> crazy. joining me from out in the elements, the weather channel's mike seidel. dylan dreyer and of course warm and dry is of course bill karins in studio. i want to start first with weather channel meteorologist mike seidel live in leesburg, virginia, about 40 miles outside of washington, d.c. mike, i understand -- i saw you earlier this morning predawn and it was pretty icy. what's it like right now? >> reporter: it's beginning to loosen up a little bit. temperatures have climbed to 33 at nearby dulles so doing this is a whole lot easier. this morning you needed an ice pick o'pir pick ax. by the way, philadelphia, 8.6 inches yesterday. that's more snow than they had the entire season last year. that was 8.3. everything under your feet is ice. now, we had 4 inches of snow and then the ice on top. it's a layer, like a big ole thick pancake. you can see that's all ice. about half an inch of ice on the trees that stressed them out. right now power outages have been increasing through northern virginia down through the shenandoah valley. about 75,000
